Care & Connect Mobile Health Program

Right outside our doors, families facing socio-economic challenges are often denied access to affordable dental care. They are left suffering from the pain and complications of severe dental problems — many of which are easily treatable with proper care. Thanks to your support, a dedicated team of volunteer dentists and hygienists treat patients aboard a fleet of fully-equipped mobile dental vans, which travel throughout Oregon and Washington every week. During a global pandemic, this work is even more important. People who can’t access urgent dental care often end up in the ER. Our mobile dental vans help ease the burden on hospitals by freeing up space in emergency rooms. Our Care & Connect Mobile Health program is the primary way Medical Teams serves the U.S.

Medical Teams U.S. Crisis Response (COVID-19)

COVID-19 has caused very serious illness and death for millions of people — and it’s continuing to mutate and spread. The best protection we have against COVID-19 is through vaccines. Equitable access to the COVID-19 vaccine is essential to overcoming the pandemic, and many populations are at a disadvantage when it comes to receiving the vaccine. To break down these barriers, we are bringing the vaccine directly to people who lack access. We’re doing this by partnering with community organizations to deliver the vaccine. Our vaccine clinics are reaching many people, including seasonal farmworkers, seafarers, those experiencing houselessness, rural communities, and people of color. In addition to COVID-19 vaccine clinics, we are providing ongoing COVID-19 testing clinics in Washington and Oregon.

Medical Teams U.S. Disaster Response

We respond to disasters where the needs are urgent and where our resources can help save lives. Sometimes that happens close to home. Medical Teams’ work in the United States began with a mission to send volunteer trauma counselors to comfort rescue workers after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Since then, we’ve sent personal hygiene and health kits as well as volunteer workers to ease the suffering of survivors of natural disasters across the country, from hurricanes to tornadoes to mudslides.

Medical Teams Receives Approval to Distribute COVID-19 Vaccinations in Washington State

(Seattle, WA) APRIL 13, 2021 — We’ve been approved by the Washington State Department of Health to begin distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in Washington. Our longtime partner Regence BlueShield, has provided a significant gift to help fund its mobile vaccination clinics. Together, we’re working to fill critical gaps in vaccination delivery throughout the state.

Medical Teams International Begins COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution in Oregon

(Portland, OR) APRIL 1, 2021 — We’re pleased to announce that Medical Teams has been approved by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) to begin distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in Oregon.
