(Portland, OR) October 12, 2023 – Medical Teams International, a global health and humanitarian relief organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. George Hopkins to its board of directors.

George Hopkins was born and raised in south Baltimore. He attended Poly High School and then Morgan State University as a student athlete where he got involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

After earning his degree, he worked full-time with FCA in Baltimore City then he served as a pastor at Grace Fellowship Church in Timonium. In 2014 he partnered with twenty people to launch Sowebo Community Church—a multi-cultural church actively engaged with the community in Southwest Baltimore.

Rev. Hopkins has volunteered with multiple organizations that focus on faith and community transformation. He is currently a Co-Chair of BUILD (Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development) and works with clergy and community leaders throughout the city to empower their neighbors to participate in acts of justice. He lives in southwest Baltimore with his wife Stefanie and three children: Sofia, Shiloh, and Gabriel.
